Inspiration.....?
We have tried to find magazine in iPad App Store, but a lot of them need to pay and the free one either is not interactive or it's children story books. So we decide to look for videos of interactive magazine in YouTube. Here is some video that we find really interesting.
Adobe InDesign
We have start learning about Adobe InDesign. We are going to use this software to do our magazine and it will be viewable in iPad or tablet. It is almost like a normal magazine when we going to design it. it is going to be page by page. After we have create stuff, we can preview it in browser, we can also preview it right away in iPad or tablet.
The preview is under Folio Overlay (Window > Folio Overlay) |

Ideas.....?
Last class, I've learn about the Brainwriting 6-3-5. This class, I've learn about another type of brainstorming, SCAMPER. It is a checklist creativity technique.
Substitude
Combine
Adapt
Modify (maximise or minify)
Put to other uses
Eliminate
Reverse or re-arrange
Where do GOOD ideas come from?.. (BY STEVEN JOHNSON)
We all want to be creative, we all want to have better ideas, we all want our organisations to be more innovative.
• Good ides is when we combine our ideas with other people. By combining ideas, the idea will become something bigger.
• Good ideas need time to incubate.
• Good ideas is when we share our idea with other people and then create a new form.
• Good ideas is when we exchange our ideas or borrow other people ideas and combine our ideas and create something new.

The Art of Innovation......
The theme of thinking, defining and creating is all about innovation. What is the Top 10 of The Art of Innovation?(BY GUY KAWASAKI)
1) Make Meaning
Making meaning means that you change the world. By changing the world means that you are making money, but if you start of doing thing by thinking of making money, you won't be able to make money, you won't be able to change the world and you properly will fail.
If you want to do things, determine how to make meaning and how to change the world.
For example:
• Apple - They want to demarcates computer. They want to bring computing power to everyone.
• Google - They want to demarcates information, making information to available to everyone.
• ebay - They want to demarcates commerce. So they can make everyone with computer to stand toe to toe with any other large retailer.
• YouTube - They want to enable everyone to create video, to upload video, and to share video.
If you really want to make meaning, that is the first step towards innovation.
2) Make Mantra
A two or three words to explain why your meaning should exist.
For example:
• Wendy's - Healthy Fast Food
• Nike - Authentic Athletic Performance
• FedEx - Peace of Mind
When you decide on the kind of meaning you make, try to find two to three words to describe why your meaning should exist.
3) Jump to the next Curve
Don't just make things 10% better, jump to the next curve.
Example: Ice business
Late 1800 - early 1900: Ice harvesting business
During winter, they go to a frozen lake or pond, cut blocks of ice.
30 years later: Ice factory
Don't have to wait for winter. They froze the water into ice in the factory.
(No more limitation for season)
another 30 years: Refrigerator
Everyone can have their own "ice factory".
Great innovation occurs when you gets to the next curve.
4) Roll the Dicee
Great innovation is DEEP (Lots of features, lots of functionality).
Great product is INTELLIGENT, COMPLETE, EMPOWERING (make you more creative, more productive), ELEGANT.
5) Don't Worry, Be CRappy
When you have the first product and it's crappy, it's ok. If you wait for the perfect world, wait for everything to be in place, everything will be good. When you jump to the next curve, it's ok to have elements of crappy.
6) Let 100 Flowers Blossom
When you start creating your product, you have everything in mind (who's your customers, who's your user, what they should do with your product). You may be surprise when people use your product the way you did not expect, by people you don't expect. It's ok. Product are suppose to be decide how to use by the user, not you.
7) Polarize People
Great product polarize people. You can love or hate a product. Don't be afraid to polarize people.
8) Churn Baby, Churn
Ignore those people that say "you can't be done, it shouldn't be done". Keep change your product and evolve your product.
9)Unique vs. Value
Unique
There is four corner:
Top Left: Very unique, but no value.
You're playing stupid if you do this.
Bottom Left: Not unique and no value
The USC corner. The worst corner.
Bottom Right: Great value, not unique.
Have to compete on price.
Top Right: Unique and Valuable
The corner you should be in.
10) Prefect Your Pitch
You have to learn to pitch.
Follow the rules for slides show: 10 slides, 20 minutes, font size 30.
BONUS: Don't let the Bozos Grind you down
The more innovative you are, the more they will grind you down. Don't listen to losers, because only loser will listen to loser. Rich and famous does not equal to smart. Rich and famous equal to lucky and smart.

Brainwriting 6-3-5
What is Brainwriting 6-3-5?
Brainwriting 6-3-5 is a type of brainstorming.
"6-3-5" actually means:
6 people
3 ideas
5 minutes
Basically Brainwriting 6-3-5 is 6 person sitting together (prefer round table) with 6 pieces of paper written the Job to be done and have 3 column with at least 6 row of boxes to write down the ides. The 6 person have to write down 3 ideas in 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, they will pass the paper to the person next to them, and then they can read what the Job to be done is and read the previous person's ideas and then write down another 3 ideas or improve the previous person's idea in another 5 minutes. The steps will be repeat until the person get back the first paper they wrote.
Our lecture have provide us the paper and let us give a try and brainstorm the ideas for our REV magazine. My group have decide the Job to be done is How to showcase the work of different course student. Below will be the pictures of our ideas.

Who am I?
Name : Hong Wee Ven (Vinxy)
Age : 20
Student ID : 0310271
Hi, I am a student from Taylor's University Lakeside. I'm now studying Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Interactive Multimedia Design. Who am i? Well, here's something that I can tell you.
• I'm the type of person that can throw a lot of ideas even the crazy one.
(except when I'm hungry)
•I'm patient with the things I love.
(but inpatient with things that I'm not interested)
•If I have to do something that I'm not so interested in, I have to be eating while doing the work.
(or else i will be watching YouTube or Facebook and playing iPad games while doing my work)
•I will not give up easily with my work until it have reach my expectation.
(unless if the deadline is killing me, I will just make sure that everything work)
•I will do research with the things that I don't understand until I understand.
(but I'm lazy with research when it come to research on things that I'm not interested in)
•I will get very angry and pissed off if I can't reach my expectation.
(but if I reach my expectation, I will become very happy and might even try to make it even better [if there is time])
•I'm kind of good in Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash [software without coding].
(but I'm not really good in Dreamweaver, InDesign and other software that need coding)

REV e-Magazine
After few discussion, we have decide what to put in the magazine and how we are going to arrange it. We decide to change the magazine into something more interesting, not just like any other magazine that people see page by page.
Firstly, instead of just a normal table of content, we are going to make it like a map with a navigation that look like a human to represent a freshman, and the map will be a Taylor's University campus' map which include Block A, B, C, D and also E. Block A and Block B will maintain to be the Taylor's portal, Times, Taylor's Library website and others, and Block C, D and E will represent Interactive Multimedia Design, Communication Graphic Design and Interior Architecture Design.
When the reader click into Interactive Multimedia Design, They can see where the Interactive Multimedia Design student's classroom will be, what subject they will be studying, the student's portfolio and so on. If they click into Communication Graphic Design, they will see Communication Graphic Design student's and if click in Interior Architecture Design, will be Interior Architecture Design student's.
In the magazine, the readers can see:
• Lectures' portfolio
• Lectures' interview
• Students' portfolio
• Students' internship experience
• Class Trip
• Taylor's University's Facilities
